My office

One thing i have realised is that this entrance, it serves as more of a gateway into another realm. The whole idea of coming into a different reality. Therefore, i do believe that my office resembles the journal presence the most. But also, i thinkwith the other two journals, L'architettura concerns with architecture, different kinds of architecture. And with the green places journal, any use of space is concerned with this journal particularly because it is a public arena. Also because of the fact that it is a structure in which disrupts the landscape so blatantly that it is a public space issue

These snapshots really emphasise the play of light and colour throughout my office. It has this real sense of imagination, not in the realistic world. Almost futuristic in some aspects. It's a different use of space

There are hints of pink/purple colours. But i think this is from the texture of the dome iin which was a bronzy material.

These series of images just shows the play of light in the office. The different tone of colours that i think work well together. I especially like the entrance in the dark. I made the arches different tones of ornages and yeallows to bring out a multi-tonal effect which i think is great

Here you can see the particle script in motion. I think it reinforces this whole idea of a virtual environmnet and the unrealistic side to the office, which resembles the presence journal.

With the montage wall, there are 'base walls' in which are almost clear, just to make a defined barrier. But to make it more interesting, i was going to add a waterfall like effect wth a particle script. But then it becomes to complicated with a particle script already installed in the office as well as the rotating media screens. I think it's too many different movements in one area and just makes it too complicated.

You can see here that the montage wall, although made quite translucent, it acts as a curtain to the office. It is as if you can see hints of whats going on inside, but not completely, adding this air od mystery to it.
I extended the platform of the entrance and added stairs to allow easy access. But what i think is great about this snapshot is that when you are entering the office, you can only see the entrance. Even the domes placement stops people from seeing right through, so there can be an element of suprise and also mystery, 'expecting the unexpected' with the office. Which i think is better than being compleetely open and obvious.

As you can see with the colour of the montage wall, they are very dark and purple which suits the office
Here we you can see the montage wall. Different alpha channels have obviously been used and these images are changed with different translucencies and more darker colours to connect with the rest of the space
I also changed the texture of the floors to a concrete material that has been darkened. I also increased the intensity of light on the desks and tables. But i think it is too bright and not reasonable for people to work on

One thing i notice is that there is a gap in the side of the stairs in which my avatar regularly falls down as well as it just looks unfinished with this gap. Therefor, something that connects with the office should be created. May be a montage wall of images/textures of the different journals.

I added an orange glow to the archs as well as a metallic texture to the dome which has been altered to suit and combine well with the frames. Also, the black and orange makes quite a stark contrast.
Because i wanted to make the office more interactive and more interesting, i made the media screens rotate by using a particular script. SO when people touch a particular screen, it spins on around on a point. I also can change the speed of rotation of the screens to make it slow or fast. I think it would be even better if these screens are tilted so it is easier to read when sitting at the tables.

Changed the table to a circular table. Also i should comment that i did use quite modernistic and almost a futuristic feeling style of furniture to add to the idea of presence . With the media screens, i made them glow slightly so they generate light in the dark as well as being eye-catching

I made these dome tables for the office space and desided that each table can promote or inform people about the different journals. But the dome shape isn't great when chairs are added, therefore, a change in shape is required. Also, putting the media screens created on top of the tables is good as it indicates which table represents which journal

I have also placed media screens of relating websites of each of the journals. But i do not like how i have placed them and want to re arrange it so it is more interactive.
Also, the floor texture has been darkened, it is still stone, but in a black colour to bring out the glow from the walls

Here i have added posters of the three journals i am looking at and promoting. They are of large scale so they are quite noticeable. Also placing them above the meeting area gives them quite a prominent stance and make them slightly the focal point when you first walk in
I did change the texture of the ground to a stone like material, but i do not think it is a distinct colour to be able to compliment and bring out the walls. So it should be darkened. May be even use a black colour to make other elements really stand out
I did attempt placing a roof-like structure to 'contain' the office. But i think it ruins the whole ambiance of the office. Also, i think it promotes really bad use of space which goes against the whole idea of the green places journal
You can clearly see the efficiency of the walls as it could potentially provide lighting for the office space..being functional as well as aesthetical.

i took these snapshots to show the effect in which my office has in darkness. I personally think it looks better at night time rather than the day because the glow from the sides. Maybe i can make the floor texture dark to induce a darker office, in which the lights from the side walls would be more obvious

With the dome, i also played with different textures and translucencies as well as the ligh it actually reflects

Also, i added this dome like structure over the frames. i feel like this defines the entrance and caould potentially bring an element of mystery to the rest of the office when someone walks in.

You can start seeing my office take shape and form with an entrance and a stairwell leading to an office area barred by the glowing varying walls. But i think one of the walls is a bit too intense with the glow and should be dimmed down. It steals too much of the focus

I started playing around with the entrance more. Making the frames different colours, glowing and showing different coloured light as well as intensities. I would definitely like to find a script in which darkens my whole office then when someonewalks in, it lights up

Entrance way

The glow on this arch frame is just too intense and in a way, can be quite blinding and uncomfortable to look at.

I like the idea of the deformed dome. It almost looks like a shell and carries on the curvaceous theme throughout the design. It also creates a definite sense of an entrance

I attempted using cylindrical type shapes and altered them so thy made an arch frame. Then i playes around with a dome shape. It kind of simulates a gateway...in a way. Having an entrance to this virtual reality all the while using architectural forms

Playing around with walls

Here you can actually start seeing the idea of a 'virtual environment' as well as being a public space challenge because it creates quite a lot of unnatural looking light inside as well as outside of the office
The different wall colour and translucency as well as light intensity and glow against each other creates quite an interesting effect in which i think would grab peoples attention easily. Just have to make sure I don't overdo the glowing intensity, otherwise it may get too bright.

With the walls i started playing around with different aspects. Such as colour of the texture and wall as well as the translucency of the object. I think making it more translucent than opaque would be interesting with layered type walls. Also, there is a great potential, if the walls made to glow, with development, it could portray a virtual-like environment, something that doesn't completely feel like the actual world. Thus it would be taking influence from the journal Presence.

I twisted and warped a square shape to result in this circular wall. I used a texture that is of a OHP sheet under the sun with water on it. It created an interesting and suited pattern in which i am going to use for majority of the walls. But i feel that the walls require more character and individuality as they, in my opinion, will be defining the space of the office
